Happy Birthday Joey
Today is Joey’s 37th birthday and so I will roast him here [mmmm….roast].
I’ve only really known Joey for a couple of years (it only seems like forever). Papa Fazul recently said he thought Joey and I had known each other from the neighborhood, but we all met around the same time—Joey, PaPa Fazul, and I.
Joey doesn’t really talk too much about himself, and when he does, it’s always at some odd time.
Things I’ve Learned About Joey and Things We Have In Common
We are from the same part of the city.
We both left the same part of the city and currently stay in places on the north side.
Our mothers’ first names are/were the same.
We both can’t sit still for too long.
When I was a kid my parents got tired of me ripping apart their hangers and using the cardboard as drumsticks on the pots and pans I used as drums, so they rented a cheap drum kit and got me some drum lessons, which I abandoned soon after beginning. (Fuck Mel Bay!)
When Joey was a kid his father bought him a drum set, but threw it in the trash soon after realizing that a hyper kid pounding on a drum set in the living room would fuck up his sleep schedule. (His father worked shift work in the mill.)
Joey took an electronics class and is somewhat of a mathlete.
I cannot grasp mathematical concepts and the thought of numbers makes my mind wander. (Let’s see…where was I?)
Joey played football.
Most of my friends played football.
We can both be TOTAL assholes to the people in our life (especially to da girls).
One word: TOILET!
So Joey will celebrate the anniversary of his birth today (and probably tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that, etc.).
I will now raise my glass (actually, it’s a bottle of Chocolate Flavored Boost Plus) and say a toast,
"To Joey. Happy Birthday and Many More! Excellent Health, Peace, and Good Karma my brotha from anotha mutha."
