2004-08-05 - 4:55 p.m. Good Times Last night Max, his sister who just moved here from DC, and I went to Cher’s place for dinner. (Max and Sissy are originally from a small town in Wisconsin.) Cher made chicken fingers and pasta. The chicken fingers weren’t the store-bought, frozen kind. She actually bought a chicken, beat the hell out of it, and then cut it into fun-sized finger food. It was great! The four of us sat around a table and ate real food. They drank wine and, not being the big drinker (sulfites give me a headache), I had water. So we sat there eating, drinking, and talking. I sort of almost felt like an adult at a dinner party. The only thing that stopped me from feeling like an adult is my immaturity. I guess I felt like the child that gets to sit at the adult table. I’m convinced the whole evening was a ploy to make sure I ate. Still, it was a blast. After dinner we talked some more. We found out that one of Max’s high school teachers took Max’s class to serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer’s trial. Max never mentioned that before and when asked why he hadn’t, he replied, “It never came up.” I found this odd because one time at lunch, Max told Cher and me how when he was a kid, he and his friends would kill small animals with their BB guns. I’m pretty sure I called him Jeffrey Dahmer. Anyway, he said that this teacher of his was intrigued by serial killers and, during Jeffrey Dahmer’s trial, she took them to the court. They sat behind bullet proof glass and heard witnesses for the prosecution testify. It was quite graphic. Let’s see, growing up in a shitty small town in Wisconsin plus killing small animals with a BB gun plus seeing the trial of a serial killer equals—Max has issues. Cher played a cd by some woman named Peaches. It’s hilarious! I’m thinkin’ she’s the female GG Allin. We all agreed that in a fight, Peaches could whoop Missy Elliot’s ass. Cher also recited a great poem she wrote about her rabbit. Walked a bit with Max and Sissy, and then rode to Ess’s place, where I once again had a good night’s sleep.
