2004-07-12 - 9:31 a.m. END She died this morning. After weeks without more than a dropper full of water every now and then. After weeks without food (with the exception of the soup that my sister gave her the last time she was able to effectively communicate). She had the nurses baffled. (They joked that we'd have to write an addendum to that end-of-life book.) My sister and one of my aunts were in her room with her. They said they each held her hand and, when the time came, she pushed their hands away and reached out. As her arms came back down, she clasped her hands, and they fell gently to her bosom. We called our family, friends, and neighbors. Those who were able to come are here. You did it Ma. Your suffering is over.
